Elsa Flores and Christopher Stein were honored as recipients of the PTA Scholarship at the PTA Awards Dinner at the Bellport Academic Center. Elsa and Chris are both students at the Eastern Long Island Academy of Applied Technology who are enrolled in the Dental Chairside Assisting Program and Automotive Technology Program, respectively. The Academy is the Career and Technical Education Program of Eastern Suffolk BOCES (ESBOCES) and has schools in Oakdale, Bellport, and Riverhead.

Elsa and Christopher have built strong foundations in their chosen fields, and are looking to pursue further education as they go onto college. Elsa will be using the scholarship as she studies pre-dentistry at Manhattan College, and Chris will be continuing his automotive studies at Suffolk County Community College. Both students were selected because of their work ethic and maturity that they bring to the classrooms they serve. For the past 21 years, the ESBOCES and the Suffolk Region PTA have sponsored the PTA Awards Dinner, which highlights local PTA officers and provides awards to select ESBOCES graduates.
