Estheticians Provide Skin Treatments to Seniors

During the holiday season, Adult Education student Estheticians took time to share their facial/skin treatment and makeup artistry skills with residents of Atria Senior Living in Bay Shore as a holiday treat.

Teacher Nancy Winter sets up these kinds of activities not only to help her students gain experience with different people’s skin types but also to allow students to gain community service and client service expertise.

Students in the esthetician program learn the skills to give skin treatments (such as facials) to improve and maintain the healthy skin of their clients. Estheticians work in spas, laser clinics, plastic surgeons’ offices, vacation resorts, cruise ships and salons. The Adult Ed esthetician career training program prepares students to take the NYS licensing exam to become professional estheticians.
