Academy Students Battle Breast Cancer Using Special Effects Makeup
The Cosmetology students in Michele Pristina’s class at Milliken Technical Center recently used the visual power of special effects makeup to raise money for breast cancer awareness and research. Channeling their creativity while employing this specialized skillset, students produced out-of-the-ordinary looks on fellow classmates and members of the community for a donation of $5 a person for their fundraiser. Horror movie-worthy scars were the number one requested look, in addition to spectacular fantasy makeup. Milliken Technical Center is part of the Eastern Long Island Academy of Applied Technology, which is the career and technical education program of Eastern Suffolk BOCES.
