Basic Technology

Basic Technology is a class committed to introducing students to work readiness skills in a variety of ways predominately through the computer platform. We utilize the ULS transition section to help introduce and discuss appropriate work place behaviors. Additionally students utilize Google classroom to monitor computer assignments including participating in the TSP Film Festival and working on basic coding skills to teach them how to not only follow simple directions but give simple directions.

Throughout the year students gain basic computer skills such as the utilization of a mouse, learning to type, and responsible internet usage including web searches. The students in Basic Technology oversee the office supplies for the all of Brookhaven Learning Center. They monitor an online order form with support and deliver necessary office supplies to staff throughout the building. The students also work on paper crafting where they learn the skills of an assembly line as well as manufacturing skills in order to create beautiful handmade products to be sold in the TSP gift shop. All of these skills will enable them to succeed in their future endeavors.
