About 21st CCLC

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) program is a federal funding source dedicated to supporting afterschool and local summer learning programs through the US Department of Education.

Mission Statement: The mission of the 21st CCLC SPARK (Service, Personal Achievement, Responsibility, and Knowledge) project at Eastern Suffolk BOCES is to provide transformative experiences that promote lifelong learning for both children and adults. Culturally responsive programming that empowers students with academic, linguistic, and socio-emotional skills, builds character, and encourages innovation will ignite the spark for all children to reach their full potential in a diverse global society. Centers, which are located in three Brentwood Middle Schools (East, North, South) and in Brentwood High School, provide a range of high-quality services to support student learning and development. These services include but are not limited to academic enrichment, tutoring and mentoring, homework assistance, music, art, sports, and cultural activities. Centers also provide safe environments for students during non-school hours. Community guests and participation are actively integrated into our enrichment activities.

This program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide afterschool and summer programs relating to: Core Educational Services, Enrichment & Support Activities and Family Engagement
