Summer Programs Offer Career Exploration and Skill-Building Opportunities for Students
Summer 2025 is fast approaching and ESBOCES is offering exciting opportunities for students to explore careers and develop new skills, with a focus on two new offerings: The Counselor in Training (CIT) program and the brand-new Audio Production class.
The CIT program, designed for students in ninth grade and above, prepares them to become enthusiastic leaders and enhances their communication and problem-solving abilities. CITs will assist in the Summer Enrichment Program, where they will guide younger students through STEAM activities, field trips to destinations like LI Ducks games and Splish Splash Water Park, and fun cultural art projects. This hands-on leadership experience will take place at the Comsewogue School District location, with a potential additional program at Bayport-Blue Point depending on interest.
The Summer Career Exploration Program is introducing a new Audio Production course, joining other exciting options like Automotive Technology, Carpentry, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, and more. Students ages 13-15 can immerse themselves in one of these fields, gaining hands-on experience and learning from industry professionals for three weeks in July.
The Pre-Employment Transition Services Program is a grant-funded program designed for youth ages 14-21 with a documented disability (IEP, 504, or medical documentation). Students are exposed to various career options through a rotating schedule of classes and receive related counseling. Classes include Animal Science, Automotive, Culinary Arts, and Healthcare.
