Scenes From the Summer

Summer learning across the agency has been filled with creativity, exploration, and memorable experiences, giving students of all ages opportunities to learn, grow, and enjoy the summer months.

At Brookhaven Learning Center, students got an early taste of the holiday season during their annual Christmas in July celebration, where Santa and Mrs. Claus made a memorable entrance on a motorcycle in tropical attire to mark the five-month countdown to Christmas.

Meanwhile, students at Sayville Elementary stayed cool in the summer heat with weekly Water Days. Every Friday, they enjoyed sprinklers, water games, and outdoor activities that provided plenty of fun while helping them beat the heat.

At Premm Learning Center, students dove into an ocean-themed week by transforming their school into a colorful aquarium. Each class created posters or 3-D displays featuring different sea creatures while participating in hands-on sensory experiences, including a touch tank, ocean-themed activities, and sensory bins that encouraged creativity, communication, and teamwork.

Students in the Adult Literacy Summer Program at the Bay Shore Adult Education Center celebrated America 250 by creating a collaborative American flag that reflects the values of freedom, diversity, and opportunity. Students shared what freedom means to them along the flag's stripes, while the stars represent the many countries and cultures that make up the program. The finished project serves as a powerful reminder that education brings people together and that every student’s story strengthens our community.
