ESBOCES Summer Enrichment Program Helps Districts Help Students
Summer fun and an emphasis on academics
The ESBOCES Summer Enrichment Program provided traditional camp offerings (carnivals, sprinklers, kickball), along with reading, math, and cultural projects for a mix of fun, friends, and academic achievement.
The six-to-seven-week program, administered by ESBOCES, took place at five component districts (Comsewogue, Bay Shore, Connetquot, Bayport-Blue Point, and Central Islip) and enabled those districts to provide enriching activities to nurture intellectual curiosity and creativity for their students entering grades one to eight or nine, depending upon the district.
Districts that partnered with ESBOCES capitalized on our curriculum and administrators to offer the program within one of their own buildings to local students. “Regular reading and STEM activities made sure to keep any summer slide in check over the weeks,” explained Program Administrator Danielle Hudek. “Additionally, everyone looked forward to field trips to LI Ducks games, Splish Splash, and local swimming pools and lakes.”
