Premm Multisensory Event Featured Children’s Book Illustrator
Literacy celebrations provided interactive experiences
Illustrator Jennifer Ball-Cordero joined students and staff at Premm Learning Center to celebrate Read Across America. Ball-Cordero illustrated the children’s books Hello Hands, Hello Mouth, and Hello Feet, which were written with a speech language pathologist and highlighted during the school’s multisensory event.
Each year the Premm Speech Department holds a Read Across America celebration to highlight books and literacy. This year they created a week of programming that included guest readers, a musical guest with some Dr. Seuss-themed tunes, as well as the multisensory finale featuring Ball-Cordero.
The interactive event featured music, dancing, bubbles, and toys and objects – such as ice packs, pin wheels and stomp rockets – to provide specific sensory experiences.
Said Speech Pathologist Jessica Fox, “We utilized those three books to create sensory activities and bring them to life, and we're so happy that Jennifer Cordero-Ball was able to come and join us for the day.”
