An Evening of Beauty and Fashion

Agency Cosmetology and Fashion students amazed the audience and judges at the Annual Fran Cook Memorial Evening and Fantasy Hairstyling Competition, showcasing the skills they’ve been perfecting in their CTE classes throughout the year.

Both high school and Adult Education Cosmetology students participated in the competition and were free to choose the category in which to enroll (fantasy or evening). Participants crafted a multitude of elegant, avant-garde, and whimsical looks, down to the details, which included props, costumes, accessories, and makeup.

More than a dozen industry professionals generously donated their time to serve as judges for the evening. First, second, and third place winners in various categories received scholarship monies.

The audience was also treated to a fashion runway show spotlighting the evening and cocktail dresses created by the agency’s young fashion designers.

“This collaborative event is an enormous learning experience for students, from the conception of their designs to the final execution during a nerve-racking competition where problem-solving skills and a think-on-your feet mentality are a must,” said Hadley Beckman, the Cosmetology teacher who served as project manager for the event.
