Fun with Science!

Before beginning their science experiment, PLC first-grade teacher Victoria Iodice read her class a book about artic animals that use blubber for warmth.  She and co-teacher Sam Rossano designed an experiment using shortening as synthetic blubber and two bowls of ice water.  Students hypothesized whether their hands would feel cold in the water using plastic bags as gloves--one was empty and the other was filled with shortening to stimulate blubber and demonstrate how animals stay warm.
