Business and Industry Partner Brian Keifer, Owner of Pro Printing & Graphics
Brian Keifer grew up in the family printing business, Pro Printing & Graphics in Patchogue, which his parents launched in 1977. About a half dozen years ago, he began collaborating with Eastern Suffolk BOCES to provide internship opportunities for students from the Computer Graphic Arts Program at Islip Career Center.
Keifer enjoys mentoring young, eager students and teaching them all aspects of the business – customer service, using the various machinery, utilizing graphics, and binding, to name a few. Said Keifer, “So any day they come in, we don't know what we're going to have. It's the big picture. It's absolutely everything.”
Once there, he explains that the students often find their niche and gravitate toward what they like best. For some it’s working with the machines, while others prefer using the computer. After graduation, many students often use Keifer as reference. “I like to help out and the kids enjoy it,” he said.
