Holi Festival

Holi Festival

As part of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity (DEI) initiative our goal at BLC is to create a welcoming, affirming environment, raise awareness and educate about various abilities and cultures, and provide an inclusive curriculum. Holi is a popular Hindu holiday celebrated most commonly in India that is also known as the Festival of Colors.  It celebrates the triumph of good over evil and the changing of the seasons from winter to spring. Brightly colored powders are the mainstay of the Holi festival, during which men, women, and children carry powders and liquid colors to throw and smear on the clothes and faces of neighbors and relatives.

BLC hosted our own version of the Holi festival on March 25th. The event will took place on the basketball court. White sheets were hung on the fence for students to decorate with powder. Students threw the powder at the sheets and staff. Prior to the event, students learned about Holi through a Nearpod lesson that was created by social worker, Robin Wolpert. Students and staff had a great afternoon celebrating Holi!
