Hispanic Heritage Month

Todos Son Bienvenidos AquÍ / All Are Welcome Here at BLC!

At BLC, we encourage students to be proud of themselves! We kicked off the school year celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Gina Salemi, Brookhaven Learning Center’s bilingual speech therapist initiated this project along with the collaboration of staff, students and families. We celebrated our similarities and differences in a beautiful way, as students were able to express themselves and share about their home culture! Students completed their project at school or at home with their family. Once completed, students hung their projects on the “Todos Son Bienvenidos/All Are Welcome” bulletin board. Students also presented their Hispanic Heritage projects to peers and staff. This contributes to the accepting and respectful environment that we strive for at BLC, especially with the rolling out of the Character Counts curriculum this October!
