Character Education: Adopt a puppy

Character Education is in full swing at Brookhaven Learning Center. The month of December focuses on responsibility. In Kerrie Clark's class, students have embraced responsibility by adopting and caring for a "pet." They each selected a puppy, named it, and crafted collars for them. Students picked out a puppy, named their puppies and made them collars. Next, the students were given a shopping lists to purchase the necessities for their pets. Each student located the items they needed and paid for them with their money. Every morning, the students come in and feed their pets and take them for walks. In the afternoon, they groom and exercise their pets. The students are taking pride in their puppies and are eager to take care of them showing great responsibility.
