Book Buddies Club

Students from Brookhaven Learning Center had the exciting opportunity to visit Samoset Middle School as part of a new initiative called the Book Buddies Club. This pilot program paired two students from BLC with two participating classes at Samoset to foster connection, collaboration, and a shared love for reading.

During the visit, BLC students read selected storybooks aloud to the students. Following the reading sessions, they guided their Samoset peers through a hands-on craft activity. The crafts not only helped reinforce comprehension but also added a creative and interactive element to the experience.

The Book Buddies Club provided a meaningful opportunity for both sets of students to build communication skills, develop confidence, and form positive relationships. It was heartwarming to see genuine friendships begin to grow, and the enthusiasm from all participants was truly inspiring.

Given the success of this trial run, both schools are hopeful and excited to continue the program next school year, with plans to expand participation and create even more opportunities for shared learning and connection.
