ES BOCES Program Collaboration for Adapted Toys

The therapy team at Brookhaven Learning Center at Samoset Middle School teamed up with Michael LoPreto, Will Norton, and Nick DeBlanco from Milliken Technical Center’s Electrical and HVAC program to create a switch-adapted football launcher and other accessible toys for students.

It began with 3D-printed button switches crafted by Amber Bragas class at Brookhaven Learning Center. Milliken Technical Center students then used their skills to assemble and adapt these switches, modifying the football launcher and toys to make them engaging and accessible for all.

This partnership highlights the power of collaboration—combining the expertise of MTC, Brookhaven’s therapy team, and staff and students from both Brookhaven Learning campuses to create innovative, adaptive tools that support students' engagement in fun, accessible, and inclusive ways.

With more ideas on the way, we’re excited to continue building opportunities that inspire independence, creativity, connection, and partnership. Stay tuned!
