STEAM Day Egg Drop Competition

STEAM Day Egg Drop Competition

Students from BAC engaged in a 4th quarter STEAM egg drop competition, where they collaborated to engineer structures designed to protect an egg from cracking upon impact after being dropped from the top of the gymnasium. Each class received a specified set of materials to construct their designs.

During the design phase, students applied scientific principles by considering the forces acting on their structures, including gravity, lift, and drag. Some groups aimed to minimize the egg's velocity during descent by using a balloon to create drag. Other groups reduced the overall weight of their creations by not using all of the provided materials. This hands-on experience allowed students to integrate concepts of physics and engineering in a practical setting, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
