Black History Month Celebration at BAC

Black History Month Celebration at BAC

At Bellport Academic Center, we are dedicated to fostering a friendly and inclusive environment where collaboration, cultural awareness, and positive learning thrive. In February, Bellport Academic Center celebrated Black History month with many engaging activities such as a Black History scavenger hunt, bingo, "Who Am I" gym challenges, and an inspiring presentation by Ms. Henniyah Rivers, a 16-year-old African American U.S. Winter Youth Olympic skier.  Our month-long celebration culminated in a festive Luncheon on February 28, 2025, which gave students the opportunity to immerse themselves in African American culinary delights, history, and culture.  We were honored to have Dr. Teresa Bryant, Director of Human Services from the Suffolk County Executive Offices and Mr. Jarod B. Morris, Neighborhood Aide at the Suffolk County Youth Bureau to attend our event.  During the luncheon, Dr. Bryant presented two Proclamations to Mr. Sean Pugni, Principal, (on behalf of Bellport Academic Center) and Ms. Lisa Isaac, Special Education Teacher, in recognition and honor of their commitment to provide an inclusive environment that promotes collaboration and cultural awareness. Mr. Morris engaged students by providing them with information about a variety of services offered by the Suffolk County for Youth program.  This incredible month-long commemoration left our students with a deeper understanding and appreciation of African American heritage.
