2nd Annual BAC Poetry Corner Event

In order to celebrate the ending of our ELA Poetry Unit, Bellport Academic Center hosted our 2nd Annual Poetry Corner Event. This gives students from all ELA classes the opportunity to showcase the poetry that they wrote. The ELA teachers collaborated to transform the multi-purpose room into a coffeeshop-style lounge, with soft music where students gathered to listen to their peers recite their works of poetry. Students and teachers decorated the entranceway, walls, and bulletin boards of the multi-purpose room with over 100 of our BAC student's poems, of varying styles for all to see. 

Students had the opportunity to recite the various types of poetry that they wrote verbally to a live audience of their peers and teaching staff. Students who did not want to verbally present, had the chance to create a video which we showed during the event. Students also picked one of their poems and created a visual presentation (poster, artwork, or collage) which displayed and visually represented their work. Students will be able to take their laminated posters and poems home after the event.
