Crisis Response Service

The Crisis Response Service was developed to assist SAS and EAP districts in handling and recovering from traumatic events such as the death of a student or faculty member. Professional from the Suffolk County Critical incidence Team has trained members of the SAS staff who have volunteered their time to participate in this effort.

Should a traumatic event occur, our designated staff member will call either the district superintendent or building principal to offer assistance or they can contact our office directly themselves. The specific services available are:

  • Coordinate a plan in conjunction with the district/building crisis team.
  • Review with staff the expected reactions to the event from students/staff.
  • Provide resources, articles, etc. to staff related to dealing with the event.
  • Provide direct services to students and/or staff.
