BOE Hosts Recognition Ceremony

6-06-2012

Students and staff were honored for their 2011-2012 achievements during the May BOE meeting.

A Recognition Ceremony honoring students and staff was held during the regularly scheduled May Board of Education meeting. The special event, with Deputy Superintendent Dr. Julie Davis Lutz announcing the honorees, demonstrated the appreciation of the administration and the cabinet. “There are wonderful things that happen across this agency every day,” Dr. Lutz stated. “What you see here this evening is just a small representation of the good things that happen in our buildings.” The large audience included families, friends, and colleagues.

The focus of the ceremony was students’ accomplishments and staff members who have developed and implemented innovative projects. “It has been said many times that the strength of Eastern Suffolk BOCES is our employees,” continued Dr. Lutz. “Therefore, it is with great pleasure that the Board has the opportunity to recognize some of the many things that have gone on this past year.” The first name called in the category of Staff Awards was Rob Becker, director of Special Education, who is the “2012 Person of the Year in Suffolk County” by the Long Island Association of Special Education Administrators.
