The Star
The monthly Arts-In-Education Newsletter, The Star, features the Top Ten AIE programs for the month as well detailing the many programs taking place in each of your districts. It profiles one or more programs and events and then informs you of meetings and more.

  • April 2012 Check out the article the LI Media Arts Show and the Suffolk high schools with Best in Show videos. Read about Allan Kronzek’s “magical” program at Hiawatha Elementary School in Sachem. Learn about the activities for each of the Arts in “March’s Celebration of the Arts.” Share the link with school staff and cultural arts reps for artist videos. And remember that the last day our office can accept Contract Requests for this school year is Wed., April 25, 2012.

  • March 2012 Find out about the LI Arts Education Re-grant Program with a due date of March 30 (formerly Local Capacity Building). Learn about the impact of some of the Arts-in-Ed programs under District Stars. Read about the workshops on Common Core ELA & Literacy and Arts Learning. Let your students know about the NYS Summer School for the Arts. See the link for Artist Videos!

  • February 2012 A few dozen programs can now be previewed by going to the video link listed in the first box on page 1. Find out about some of the best in show from the 2012 International Performing Arts for Youth (IPAY) showcase. In Web Views, find 22 How-To’s to fuel creativity. More on arts integration for 21st century learning. And save the date for the 2012 LI Media Arts Show on March 20 at Five Towns College.

  • January 2012 Learn about what the Federal Government is doing to support arts education through their Task Force on Arts & Human Development. Read Harvard Business Review’s blog on “The Arts: Making Business Unusual.” Hear what MS teachers are doing back in their classrooms once they’ve seen the program, Ryan’s Story. And see the growing number of artists who have added videos to their Program Descriptions to facilitate previewing their programs. And share the upcoming workshop, “Common Core for the Visual and Performing Arts Teachers” with your arts directors and arts educators.

  • December 2011 Learn about APPR and SLOs Impact on NYS Evaluation of Arts Teachers from our very own Dr. Joel Ratner who sits on the Regents Task Force on Teacher and Principal Effectiveness. Learn about how the teaching artists and arts organizations appreciate collaborations with your school to provide the best program for your students.
