Drug and Alcohol Consortium – This consortium
offers a group rate for a qualified Medical Review Officer (MRO) to perform drug and alcohol testing for DMV 19A State Education physicals, as well as required drug and alcohol pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post accident drug testing. Additionally, Drug and Alcohol Reasonable Suspicion training is available for consortium members.
Abstract Provision – ESBOCES Transportation staff retrieve and provide school districts and contractors with DMV driver abstracts at a group rate.
Point Insurance Reduction – Candidates successfully completing the Basic SED course who wish to take advantage of the point and/ or premium reduction may request ES, the BOCES staff submits the required documentation to DMV.
Full Driver, Monitor and Attendant Audits –The ESBOCES Transportation staff conducts an audit of a driver's 19A and State Education files. The staff identifies non-compliance issues, provides an evaluation report, and recommends corrective action.
Child Safety Zones – At the district’s request, a student’s walking route is investigated
for safety. Traffic counts are conducted and a point system is utilized to determine if the child is eligible to ride a bus. Results are provided to the school district.
Shared Transportation Management – A Civil Service qualified Eastern Suffolk
BOCES per-diem is provided to manage a district’s transportation operation during a transitional period. Services include personnel supervision, coordination of out-of-district needs, route creation and modification, safety and equipment management, and as
a district liaison between the district and the community. The ESBOCES Transportation
staff provides operational support.
Transportation Studies – At the district’s request, ESBOCES performs any of several transportation-related studies, which include, but are not limited to, impact studies (what if scenarios), eligibility (walker/ rider evaluations), efficiency, redistricting, RFP development, and regional transportation.
Automated Pupil Assignment System – A computerized pupil assignment system is installed at the district with on-site support and unlimited training during the contracted period. The system is able to perform demographic analysis, enrollment projections and pupil management and reporting.
