Long Island Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network (L.I. RBE-RN)
We are pleased to announce that Eastern Suffolk BOCES will administer the new LONG ISLAND REGIONAL BILINGUAL EDUCATION RESOURCE NETWORK (L.I. RBE-RN). The purpose of the L.I. RBE-RN (formerly known as BETAC) is to support districts and schools in promoting equity and excellence in the education of LEP/ELLs by providing high quality technical assistance, on-site consultation, and professional development.
The L.I. RBE-RN program now includes the reconfigured regions of Nassau and Suffolk, and it will serve all 125 public school districts on Long Island. In an attempt to make this transition as seamless as possible, there is a Nassau Satellite Office that will operate out of the Nassau BOCES site at its Lupinskie Center in Westbury. The main office of the L.I. RBE-RN remains located at the Sherwood Instructional Support Center in Holbrook.
There will be some changes of staff and priorities in the new work requirements of the L.I. RBE-RN. As these changes occur, we will keep you updated via this web site and through the various listservs and distribution lists that we maintain.
We look forward to serving you in our mutual endeavor to improve and enhance programs and instruction for LEP/ELLs across Long Island.
