Subject: Eastern Suffolk BOCES Software Training program

We are pleased to announce a transition for the Eastern Suffolk BOCES Software Training program. Beginning in January 2010, the program will offer three new workshops:

v     Google Tools and Documents

v     SMART Notebook Software

v     Microsoft Office 2003-07 Transition

Additionally, a Software Training listserv has been created and subscribers will receive bi-monthly updates and reminders about upcoming workshops. The Software Training program booklet has been discontinued. We invite all employees in the following Suffolk County institutions to join the listserv:

v     BOCES

v     public and non-public districts

v     public agencies with educational purposes and functions

Administrators and support staff are highly encouraged to become part of this network and to attend workshops together. Send an email to subscribe-softwaretraining@lists.esboces.org and do not include text in the subject or text area.

In July 2010, the transition will continue as workshops are consolidated from multiple day workshops to one day from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Additional workshops will be offered such as

v     Web2.0 Ready-Are You?

v     My Teacher Pages – A Principal’s Message

v     Digital Safety Workshop

v     Working on a Network

v     Information Overload – How to Control it before it Controls You

Most importantly, schools and agencies with an educational purpose can join the Software Training network to provide their employees with effective professional development at reduced prices.  The following prices are expected for the 2010/11 academic year:

·        Under 2,000 students/employees                           $2,500

Take advantage of sending up to 25 employees to workshops (25 workshop maximum)

·        2,001 students/employees and over                       $5,000

Take advantage of sending up to 50 employees to workshops (50 workshop maximum)

Additional member workshop fees:            $100/registration

Non-member workshop fees:                      $200/registration

All network partners will be invited to join bi-annual collegial circles to share best practices and solutions to identified obstacles.  Onsite professional development will be greatly reduced to $866/day and can be customized for specific needs.  Eastern Suffolk BOCES Model Schools districts can use Model Schools funds for onsite professional development if the audience consists of a majority of licensed educators.

We look forward to working with you as the program develops to meet your needs. Your thoughts and ideas are appreciated.  Please contact me directly if you need further clarification.  Please join the listserv to receive Software Training information.  Thank you.
