The BOCES ACES initiative is intended to reduce the incidence and frequency of underage consumption of alcohol by youth under 21 in the Rocky Point and Shoreham-Wading River School districts. It is predicated upon the premise that this can be done by implementing universal prevention strategies to reduce risk factors and increase protective factors, by providing intervention strategies to at-risk youth within a high school student population, and by seeking to change institutional policies, procedures, and practices to reduce the flow of alcohol to youth under age 21.
