Students Learn About Cyber-Bullying

3-05-2012

CAC invites Computer Crimes specialist to speak with students.

Detective Rory Forrestal of the Suffolk County Police Computer Crimes Bureau recently visited the Centereach Academic Center (CAC) to speak about cyber-bullying and Internet safety. He spoke about how young people are experiencing repercussions from sending inappropriate text messages and photos through the use of electronic devices. “The majority of students did not realize the impact these messages could have on their future,” Principal Susan Goltz commented later.

“Detective Forrestal is very knowledgeable about these subjects and offered the students a good foundation to avoid Internet pitfalls,” she added.
The program is funded by Congressman Tim Bishop.

With Detective Rory Forrsetal (below) are CAC Psychologist Dr. Kelly Lupo-Devlin and CAC Assistant Principal Chris Williams.
