Action Plans - AFG Update
October 31, 2003
Accreditation for Growth is one of two accreditation processes that Middle States developed and offers to its members and those schools considering membership. This option represents a shift in school evaluation by assessing outputs instead of inputs. As a result, schools can now opt for accreditation on the basis of continuous growth in student performance. (Overview: Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools - Accreditation for Growth)
A dedicated team of faculty, administrators, support staff, students and parents worked diligently over the past few months writing the AFG Action Plans that will be presented to the Middle States Validation Team in early December 2003.
The Planning Committee is busy preparing for the three-day visit by the Middle States Validation Team (December 10, 11, 12, 2003). The team will meet with a broad range of H.B. Ward Technical and Academic Center stakeholders including teachers, students, parents, trustees, administrators and members of the Planning Committee itself will be interviewed. Their goal is to determine the effectiveness of the planning process, how well the report represents all of those involved in the school as well as the plan itself. The Middle States Validation Team want to know that this is going to be a working document for the next five years. The Validation Team is also interested in how the H.B. Ward meets the high standards set by the Middle States Association for its member schools.
