Eastern Suffolk BOCES Adult Education is committed to providing quality educational opportunities to all adults working at developing skills for employment in the new millennium. The Adult Education Program offers comprehensive programs providing complete educational opportunities and support services for a diverse population. The Adult Education Program is tailored to meet the occupational and educational needs of adults 18 years or older. Eastern Suffolk BOCES is proud to offer all adults the opportunity to succeed in the world of life-long learning.
- Classes are FREE! We offer both day and evening classes.
- Classes are held at convenient locations throughout the county from Bay Shore to Montauk.
- Students under 21 years of age may be enrolled through their home school district.
Adult Basic Education / ASE Program:
Adult Basic Education (ABE) and GED prep classes are designed for adult
students, who wish to learn or improve basic skills. Classes include
reading, writing, math, science, social studies, employability skills,
consumer education, cultural awareness and citizenship.
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL):
ESOL classes are available to adults. Classes offer self-paced, individualized
lessons to help students improve English speaking, listening, reading
and writing skills. In addition, these classes offer, citizenship, consumer
education, cultural awareness, family literacy, career planning and
personal development.
Giving Ready Adults a Study Program (GRASP):
GRASP is a home study program that prepares you for a NY State high
school equivalency diploma. It also includes a home study program for
Speakers of other Languages (ESOL). It is available to students who
can't attend a traditional GED class due to transportation, childcare
and other personal concerns. Assessment is done to identify student
needs, and individualized lessons are designed. This program is free
to students 21 years and older.
