The Star
The monthly Arts-In-Education Newsletter, The Star, features the Top Ten AIE programs for the month as well detailing the many programs taking place in each of your districts. It profiles one or more programs and events and then informs you of meetings and more.

  • December 2008 - Thanks to all of you using the online Contract Requests and Evaluations. Read about the school-wide residency “A Human Lighthouse Shines In Commack.” And let us know about your district’s programs and residencies that impact student achievement like this program. Share the online survey with your arts staff to determine the need for Arts Leadership Development that the AIE office is organizing.

  • November 2008 - Read about the meaningful and successful residency, “Author! Author!” completed at North Babylon. We are looking forward to hearing about your successful programs in future newsletters. There are updates from the statewide NYS BOCES Arts-in-Education Network and their work with the Regents to further the causes of arts education and arts-in-education. Read about NYS Council on the Arts Cultural Blueprint details on the economic impact of the arts in NYS.
  • October 2008 - October is Arts & Humanities month. Be sure to celebrate the good work you, your teachers and your students accomplish in and through the Arts! This month’s newsletter reviews a study by the Rand Corporation on “Cultivating Art Lovers: It Starts in Schools.” There is an article referring to Americans for The Arts on where the presidential candidates stand on the arts and arts education. Several Diversity and Unity programs took place in September. Read about them here.
